Where's
the Mouse?
Point of Sale (POS) computing has different demands than
a workstation designed for word processing and spread sheets.
The user interface should be easy to follow, yet comprehensive
enough to allow experienced users to navigate the system
with great speed. We've observed that when people are entering
data, great efficiency is lost when the hands switch from
keyboard to mouse and back; they often click on one field,
type some data, move their hands away from the keyboard,
to the mouse, and back again. It's amazing how much time
this process takes. Software should easily allow you to
move between fields in an ergonomic, logical and useful
way. We have observed pull-down boxes that don't allow you
to type into them at all. It may actually take a person
10 times as long to point, click, scroll, and select, when
simply typing the few characters would have been much easier.
POS systems have a particular need for efficiency, and when
you add an extra device such as a bar code reader the need
for efficiency is even more evident. To this end we have
made sure that you can use our software entirely without
a mouse; but if you prefer to mouse around, that works too.

Attention to
Detail
Is it possible to improve user efficiency
and accuracy by subtle color variation and aesthetic grace?
We believe so. That's why our software is not only very
functional, but also pleasing to the eye. Our screens
are easy to read, uncluttered, and in their own way, even
beautiful.

Data
Processing Before Hype
We have encountered many pieces of software
that put gimmicks ahead of the basic computing. Why have
a genuine simulated digitized leather case with animated
flipping pages for your personal organizer when you can't
even customize a report using the software? We strive
to provide all the functionality that you need to run
your store's POS system before we add "eye candy".

Security
Among Friends
Even in a store situation with family, there
is a need for security control over specific functions
and configuration options based on a user's role in the
organization. When
you add employees, the need is even greater. We understand
these issues and have made them easy to implement and
maintain.

Consistent
Operation (Software Ergonomics)
Have you ever noticed that when you use
some software, one part of the application allows you
do something one way and other parts don't? We have worked
diligently to offer a consistent look and command structure
throughout all of our software.

Strength
in Numbers (Networking)
Computers by themselves are very powerful;
connect them together and they can be much more than the
sum of the parts. Simply put, networking is the ability
to share data between computers. If you have two registers
in your store, it wouldn't make much sense to have some
customer records on one and some on another. You can't
easily ask customers to kindly step over to another station
just because your computers aren't talking to each other.
With the accessibility of networking hardware these days
and incredibly low prices, networks are affordable and
manageable for most stores. Our software is ready to handle
all the registers, receiving stations, and office machines
that you need to manage your business. We also offer
equipment and consulting services to help you get your
network set up.

More
than a Number (Item Codes)
Traditionally, stores track inventory using
Item Codes (often known as SKUs). We have optional features that allow
you to get more out of Item Codes by giving you the ability
to incorporate vendor codes and/or category codes into
the actual item code. Our software helps you with this
by providing automatic numbering schemes that find the
next available number that fits your item coding scheme.
For instance, say your store is set
up so that your vendor codes and category codes are 3
characters (letters or numbers) each, and you want to incorporate
this information into your item code. Your item code might
look something like this. ABC0001123.
The first 3 characters are the vendor code, the last three
might be the category code and the center four numbers
(in red) are picked to make the whole code unique. If you
use an automatic numbering scheme, our software will pick
these numbers for you, starting at "0001", then
"0002" and so on. Of course, it's up to you to
use whatever item code style that works for you, be it
manual or automatic. To assist with conversions from your
existing coding system to a new one (which we can
help you design), we offer data transformation
services. We also offer data conversion services to bring
your existing data into your new POS system.
